If you want to know how the residential real estate market might shake out this year, might we suggest a crystal ball? Not that predicting real estate trends was ever simple, but the wild market and policy swings of recent months have caused a lot of uncertainty, never a good thing for long term investments like homebuying. The April 2025 report on Bright MLS statistics offered by Maryland Association of Realtors (MAR) reported that the state’s average list price is $520,712 and mortgage rates remain high, averaging 6.72 percent as of this writing (compared that to a significant low of 2.96 percent in 2021). The National Association of Realtors noted in May that home sales had dropped across every region of the U.S., due largely to mortgage rates.

It’s tough out there, but buying a home remains the American dream. And the right professional can help you achieve it. According to MAR, there are more than 32,000 licensed realtors in the state just waiting to offer their guidance, savvy, and expertise to those who are ready to embark on the home buying or selling adventure.
