

Scott Adams, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. Dr. Adams’ orthopedic specialties include:
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Adams attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree with honors and his medical degree. He returned to Virginia for his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Medical College of Virginia (VCU Health System), including serving as chief resident.
While a resident, Dr. Adams completed and published research that won both institutional and statewide awards. He then completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. During his fellowship, he was one of a limited number of nationwide participants in the American Orthopedic Association’s Emerging Leaders Program.
Dr. Adams has extensive experience in the sports medicine field, having served as a team physician for the Duke University basketball teams, the football team, and the men’s and women’s soccer teams, as well as two high school football teams.
Additionally, Dr. Adams serves as a physician with the United States Soccer Federation and travels internationally with youth national teams, including providing medical coverage at the Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan.
Dr. Adams has written a book chapter on knee injuries, published articles on ACL injuries and treatment, and has given talks on various sport injuries, including a presentation to a worldwide FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) medical forum.
Dr. Adams is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
